"Holly Valance FootPrints (enhanced) cd album" Description
Footprints follows in the tradition of the eponymous Kylie and even Jason Donovan's Ten Good Reasons; not particularly similar in style or content but all three are the debut efforts from Ramsay Street hopefuls. It's too early to say whether Holly Valance will go Kylie or Jason but thanks to her raunchy if somewhat desperate video for first single and standout track "Kiss Kiss", she should be around as long as her Pop Star/Idol/Rival peers and perhaps even longer. Like the aforementioned single and follow-up "Down Boy", much of the albums production has an Eastern feel with tablas banging out some disjointed R&B which is probably the albums strongest point. There are no real fantastic songs in their entirety but there are many glimmers of inspiration like the euphoric "Whoop" with a catchy chorus, quirky arrangement and filthy bassline. More such demi-highlights are "All in Mind" which has the same melody as "Kiss Kiss" but slightly slower, also "Cocktails and Parties" which is a pretty middle-of-the-road, mid-tempo ballad. It will be very interesting to hear what Valance's next album will be like as there is strong potential in Footprints but as with most new chart-pop acts, the debut is just a conservative gamble on whether they'll make it.
